Warm and wet weather abound in Planting Zone 13. In the United States, Zone 13 regions are located on and near the equator and consist of Puerto Rico and remote locations in Hawaii. With average annual minimum temperatures between 60°F and 70ºF think board shorts, bikinis, Piña Coladas and growing Bamboo, Bananas, Orchids, and many other ornamental plants in this subtropical hardiness zone. While few people in the U.S. live in Zone 13, it’s still good to know how to care for the many tropical plants species that originate from this area of the world.
